What made you start on scrapbooking?

October 31st, 2009 | by admin |

Is it a hobby for you or a career?

I first got into scrapbooking when my mother got ill and she gave me all her photos. They were in old books and I had to come up with a way to salvage the old pics because time and smoke etc had almost done them in. So I cleaned them and stored them in acid free books and scanned them and burned them onto cds so now my decendants will have them!

Another thing that I started after that was paper modeling. I found a lot of things to add to my scrapbook supplies there. Doolhouse assecories, clipart and paperdolls. All sorts of stuff! :)

Ive been thinking of starting a scrapbooking group to offer peeps stuff for free. It can be a bit expensive from the store.

Happy Scrappin’ :)

Hobby. I don’t think I would enjoy it as much if it were a career just because I’m sure a job would entail alot of rules, restrictions, all that good stuff including other people’s expectations, and I feel that in a scrapbook you should be able to express anything you want to any extent in whatever way you want without having to please anyone with it.

I wish I could make a career out of it, but for now it’s just a hobby.
As for what got me started, I’ve always collected memorabilia, but I didn’t start making scrapbooks, as you would probably think about them in the current sense, until high school, which was about 12 years ago.

A department chief was retiring…..I had never made a scrapbook before but I had a donated album & a bunch of old pictures. It was really a blood, sweat & tears project, especially since I had a 3-month deadline & so few scrapbooking things to choose from many years ago. It’s a hobby for me…..I guess it will always be since I stick my photos into pocket pages & type up info on the computer now–it’s a lot faster when your viewers are impatient!!
